Edinboro Lake Dam Getting Structural Changes

Several changes to the Edinboro Lake Dam aim to improve the safety of the structure.
Several changes to the Edinboro Lake Dam aim to improve the safety of the structure. Construction has started on the first phase of the project that will bring the Edinboro Lake Dam up to regulation.

The current phase of enhancements will add gates at the dam that will allow the borough to control water flow by opening and closing the gates. The improvements will allow them to move water from one side of the dam to the other in a safe manor. And it gives them more capacity to move the water.

On the downstream side they will have stop logs that they will be able to adjust when the gate is closed.

The dam is around 110 years old and officials say was in need of some upgrades to bring it up to DEP standards.

Officials say the cost of the changes will be about three hundred thousand dollars.
