For an answer to this and other compelling questions about the brain and central nervous system, visit the Millcreek Mall in Erie, Pa., on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for “Brain Awareness Day.”

Students and faculty from the Psychology Department at Edinboro University will be on hand with fun activities for preschool-age children through high school students to raise awareness about mental health and keeping the brain and nervous system healthy.

Activities will include making candy brain cells, a bean bag-toss brain game to direct the actions of a robot, and illusions that trick the eyes and ears.

Game booklets and informational packets on brain health will also be available. All activities are free and open to the public.

Brain Awareness Day is held as part of Brain Awareness Week, an effort co-sponsored by the Society for Neuroscience and the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives in support of the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research.

EU’s Brain Awareness Day display and activities will be located in the Center Court of the Millcreek Mall, near Bon-Ton and Customer Service. This is the fifth year that students and faculty from Edinboro’s Psychology Department have participated in the campaign.
