The Erie Police Department is joining the millions of Facebook users to connect with the Erie community.

The Erie Police Department is joining a national trend of law enforcement agencies creating social media pages.

They started a page on Monday of this week

You can now connect with the Erie Police Department on one of the most popular social media sites.

The page has more than 25 hundred likes and is called -- Erie Police Department.

The purpose of the page is to communicate with the public and nform them of missing persons or traffic situations.

The page also includes pictures of wanted suspects.

By posting those pictures police hope to get feedback so they can find these alleged criminals.

The Facebook page won't replace any common practices at the department but Chief Bowers says it will compliment the other work the department does.
