Erie Police Applicants Test Their Strength

Applicants take the next test in the process to become a City of Erie police officer
June 28, 2014 - Applicants for the Erie Police Department braved the heat today for a physical agility test, getting them one step closer to becoming a City of Erie Police officer.

These applicants completed a written test in May and if they pass today's physical exam, they will move on in the application process, completing their 120 training if they haven't done so already.

Nearly 40 participants were split up by age and gender to complete the exercises.

That level of fitness included a 300 meter run, bench pressing, one minute worth of sit ups, and a mile and a half run.

A list will be posted at the end of summer with the names of those candidates who have passed every test. That list makes those applicants eligible for police department positions for two years.

Today's test took about two hours, and emergency personnel were on hand just in case anything went wrong in today's heat.
