Grand Opening Set For Lake Erie Community Park

Supervisors say "It's a park now, not a campground."
May 28, 2014 - Girard Township Supervisors said today, “It’s a park now, not a campground” They were talking about the Lake Erie Community Park in Lake City. Last September, all the campers in the park were ordered out. Some of those campers called the park home for the summer months, then leaving their campers there year round.

That has all changed now. The park is void of any campers and supervisors have big plans for the park. Hiking trails will be added throughout the park, a children’s playground will be built and next year a project called Stairway To The Water will take place. Stairs will be built from the bluff to the shores of the lake.

This weekend, a grand opening for the park will be held from 1 p.m. until sunset Saturday and Sunday. There will be plenty of activities for the kids, lots of food and entertainment including carriage rides around the park.
A blessing of the park will take place on Sunday afternoon
