The event draws awareness in the community about the role and importance of trees in the environment.

It also brings attention to the more than 250 varieties of trees at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park, which is free for the public’s enjoyment.

“Trees are not only beautiful to look at, they play a vital role in helping to heal damage done to the environment, as well as prevent runoff and erosion, create habitat for birds and wildlife, and a multitude of other benefits people often take for granted,” said Benner.

“This event educates students about the immense value of trees in our everyday lives.”

Hands-on learning stations will be led by presenters fromLEAF, Allegheny Creek Connections, Environment Erie, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, and Penn State Extension.

There will also be student volunteers from Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy as a part of their community outreach program.
