Whether you are planning a party or going to one, Super Bowl Sunday is all about watching football and food consumption. Even if you're not a fan of the Denver Broncos or the Seattle Seahawks, you'll probably still be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, and what better time to buy a big screen TV? Historically, the Super Bowl ranks as the third most popular week for sales of big screens 55 inches and larger - behind the weeks of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As expected, sales are up at Best Buy on Peach Street, as manufacturer’s partner with retailers to get TV’s out the door. Big screen TVs are discounted at around five to 10% in the week leading up to TVs biggest night of the year, and with new models coming out next month, sales go even deeper. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, game day is the second highest day for eating, only second to Thanksgiving. Local pizza shop, Alfee's on Glenwood Park Avenue isn't complaining. They are prepared for the busy weekend, already taking pre-orders and stocking their cooler full of chicken wings. According to the National Chicken Councils 2014 wing report, there will be 1.25 billion chicken wings consumed this weekend. Alfee's manager says they are ready for the big weekend, but still ask for patience from their customers as they make hundreds of deliveries in just a few hours. They have extra staff ready to work and are prepared to cook up at least 400 pizzas and over two thousand pounds of wings. Snacks are also a big part of Super Bowl Sunday. Some reports show people around the country go through 11 million pounds of chips, 4 million pounds of pretzels, and 3.8 million pounds of popcorn.
