Lucy Comedy Fest Performers Advance in “Last Comic Standing”

Lucille Ball Comedy Festival performers Joe Machi, Mark Normand and Carmen Lynch
JAMESTOWN, NY – May 23, 2014 – Lucille Ball Comedy Festival performers Joe Machi, Mark Normand and Carmen Lynch appeared on last night’s season premiere of Last Comic Standing. Machi and Normand, both of whom advanced to the semifinals, are two-time Jamestown performers featured on the album Live From Jamestown: Late Night @ Lucy Comedy Fest, and Carmen Lynch performs in the Stand-Up Showcase with Caroline Rhea in Jamestown this coming August 7.

“Joe and Mark are Jamestown favorites. The last time I saw them they were skating the bowl above Jamestown Skate Products after hitting Forte and the Wine Cellar. We’re excited but not surprised they’re in the semi-finals, and look forward to Carmen Lynch playing Jamestown August 7th,” said Journey Gunderson, executive director of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.

The Stand-Up Showcase hosted by Caroline Rhea will take place at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts (116 E. 3rd St.), and Comedy Late Night will take place in the Tropicana Room at the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy (2 W. 3rd St.).

Machi and Normand’s album tracks and the complete 15-track Live From Jamestown: Late Night @ Lucy Comedy Fest are available on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, the Lucy Desi Center for Comedy gift shop at 2 W 3rd St and shop.lucy-desi.com. Other comics appearing on Live From Jamestown include Myq Kaplan, Jackie Kashian, Sean Keane, Kelly MacFarland, Harrison Greenbaum, Andi Smith, Calise Hawkins, Keith Alberstadt, Josh Gondelman, Andy Hendrickson, Kelly Collette, Jim Tews and Andy Sandford.

In addition to Carmen Lynch, confirmed comedians for this year’s Comedy Late Night (August 7-9) include Caroline Rhea, Andrew Norelli, Kerri Louise, Moody McCarthy, Mike Brody and Pete Lee. Rhea, McCarthy, Norelli and Lynch will also be performing during the 8pm Stand-Up Showcase on August 7.

The 2014 festival will feature performances by Jay Leno, Lucie Arnaz, Tom Cotter, Caroline Rhea and over 50 events in five days. Past festivals have featured Ray Romano, Ellen DeGeneres, Lewis Black, Bill Engvall, Kathleen Madigan, Billy Gardell, Joan Rivers, Paula Poundstone, George Wallace and more.

The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival is the first in a four-pillar vision for the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy, including a comedic arts education program, a comedy film festival and the establishment of the first National Comedy Center.

The National Comedy Center in Jamestown is envisioned as an institution celebrating comedy: the craft and its contributors. Projected to open in 2016, the national attraction is being designed by Jack Rouse Associates and Manhattan-based Local Projects, who just completed the 9/11 Memorial Museum that opened on May 14, 2014.
