The canine was revived with a pet oxygen mask by firefighters and is okay.
Flames greeted firefighters as they rolled up to 1827 West 4th Street in Ashtabula early this morning.
Firemen quickly began spraying the blaze, but below zero temperatures made fighting the fire difficult.
Hoses froze, and an aerial truck was damaged when its water channels froze up.
A resident rescued his dog from the burning building. The canine was revived with a pet oxygen mask by firefighters and is okay.
No people were hurt.
A spokesperson for the Ashtabula Fire Department says finding the cause of the blaze will be difficult because the ruins are encased in tons of ice.
