Mayor Sinnott Uses Veto

Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott is vetoing Erie city council's sunset resolution on garbage and sewer bills.
Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott is vetoing Erie city council's sunset resolution on garbage and sewer bills.

Mayor Sinnott says it's unrealistic to let city residents believe that there could be a rollback on the increased garbage and sewer bills in next years budget.

Council proposed the sunset resolution to put pressure on the Sinnott administration to find ways to collect the more than two million dollars in delinquent garbage fees and bring in more revenue.

Mayor Sinnott says options are limited when it comes to collecting those fees -- but that they have a lien system in place for those who don't pay.

City council can override the veto with five out of seven members voting to override it.
