Mill Village Underpass Improvement Project Underway

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that work is underway
Oil City – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that work is underway on a project to improve the vertical clearance on Route 6 at the railroad underpass in Mill Village Borough.

Work in the one-quarter-mile-long project area involves reconstruction of the existing roadway, construction of concrete barriers and modular walls, and updated drainage, sidewalks, curb ramps, landscaping and signing.

The contractor is Francis J. Palo, Inc., of Clarion, Pa. The contract cost is $2,793,425. Eighty percent of the contract costs will be paid federal funds and 20 percent with state funds.

Construction requires closing Route 6 to through traffic from the intersection of French Creek Road in Le Boeuf Township to the intersection of Main Street in Mill Village Borough.

A detour is posted using Route 19, Route 97 and Flatts Road (Route 2003).

The road is expected to be reopened to traffic in early November.
