Millcreek Township Considers Sale of Water Authority

Millcreek Township Supervisors voted to continue the fact-finding process that could lead to the potential sale of the Millcreek Township Water Authority
March 4, 2014

Millcreek Township Supervisors voted to continue the fact-finding process that could lead to the potential sale of the Millcreek Township Water Authority.

The Water Authority and Erie Water Works are trying to come to a negotiated settlement over bulk water rates following a recent arbitration.

In a previous meeting, township supervisors agreed to wait until March 1st to begin fact-finding that could lead to the sale of the Water Authority to Erie Water Works. Tuesday, the Water Authority asked the supervisors to wait six more weeks to do so while negotiations are taking place, but that will not happen.

Supervisor Brian McGrath was the only no vote. Rick Figaski and John Groh voted to go ahead with the fact-finding process.

An Erie Water Works spokesperson says the company will continue to negotiate with the Millcreek Township Water Authority.
