Need for More Salt Hits Millcreek in Pocketbook

This winter has taken a toll on the salt supply in many municipalities, but Millcreek Township has received another shipment to get through the rest of winter. The township usually estimates they'll use around 6- thousand tons and they started to run low. This year, that salt supply would likely have run out if the new shipment hadn't arrived. Having to order more salt means the Millcreek budget takes a hit. Supervisor Brian McGrath says the more money is used on salt, the less can be used for asphalt later in the year. There was recently a miscommunication between the supplier and the trucking company, which caused a delay in delivery. The salt supply is back on track and they expect an additional shipment of up to 200 tons later this week.
