Niagara Sets Sail for First Time This Season

The shakedown sail marks the first sail of the season for the Flagship Niagara.
MAY 18, 2014-- The shakedown sail marks the first sail of the season for the Flagship Niagara. This year’s sail is the first for William Sabatini as captain. The trip is usually about five hours and helps determine if the boat is ready for the season, setting sails and running the engine. The crew makes sure all of the components of the boat are functioning properly and this year’s sail went exactly as planned. The crew has been working for 6 weeks to prepare the boat for today. The crew hopes to continue making this season a success. The Niagara crew consists of eighteen professionals and numerous volunteers. The crew will continue training next week. The summer voyage begins on June 17th.
