The Ice bucket challenge is sweeping the nation aiming to raise awareness for ALS.

Jet 24's own Ashlee McGeehan took on the challenge and passed on the nomination to some community leaders. State Senator Sean Wiley, State Representative Ryan Bizzarro, City Councilman Bob Merski, County Councilman Jay Breneman and JET TV's David Belmondo accepted the challenge to help strike out ALS.

The challenge aims to raise awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig's disease, a neuromuscular disease that affects the bodys nervous system. The viral challenge tells nominees to dump the ice bucket or make a donation.to the cause, and today they did just that.

Senator Wiley says this is a cause more people should be aware of. He took part on the challenge in honor of his friend Roy Glass who recently passed away from the disease. "Roy's family having to go through that and Roy passing last year, we found it fitting to, in his memory, do something like this."

Even though the guys gladly accepted Ashlee's challenge to dump the ice buckets they also plan to donate to help find a cure for this deadly disease.
And they plan to pass on the nominations to fellow elected officials, so watch out!
