Erie Homicide Victim's Name Released

The coroner has completed the autopsy of the city's latest homicide victim.
August 25, 2014 - Following an autopsy, the name of an early Saturday morning shooting victim has been identified.

The coroner's office said that Hercules Rieger, 39, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

His death is being ruled a homicide.

According to police, Rieger was shot outside the "Bearded Lady," a rental hall at East 11th and Wayne Street around 3am Saturday.

He was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment, but died several hours later.

Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers said they are moving forward in making an arrest.
