APRIL 21, 2014-- More than four thousand fans filled Erie Insurance Arena this evening to cheer on the Erie Otters as they continue the race for the championship. The Erie Otters haven't been this far in the championship since they won it all in 2002. Now, local fans are heading out to support the team as the season continues. Otters officials say this seasons attendance grew faster than expected bringing thousands of people downtown for each game. A mix of the new arena and an all-star line up had fans excited for the season. This year had four games that brought in sold out crowds. Officials say the games during the week don't bring in the biggest crowds, but tonight's game brought in 4,327 people for the playoffs adding to this years total. This year has set an all time attendance record. The Otters have had more than 150,000 people come to the games.
