Paterno Drops Out of Lt. Governor Race

Jay Paterno announces today he will not run for lt. governor, citing the petition challenge as his reason for dropping out.
March 28, 2014 - Just two days after he appeared on our Newsmaker segment on JET24 Action News, Jay Paterno announces he is dropping out of the lt. governor's race.

In a statement released today, Paterno says "Over the last 24 hours in talking with attorneys it has become clear that the ballot challenge could be a long process with potential decision and appeals carrying beyond Monday's hearing. With less than two months reminaing before the primary, I do not want an ongoing legal back and forth to be a distraction in this race."

Paterno's petitions were challenged by another candidate for lt. governor, Brad Koplinski.

Paterno was expected to appear in court on Monday.
