Police Say Social Media and Public Aid In Arrests

City of Erie Police say public played important role in recent arrests.
MAY 5, 2014-- Recent crimes in the area caught on camera have led to police making arrests, with the help of the public. Lorenzo Mills is in police custody after allegedly robbing the PNC Bank downtown on April 28th, 2014. The arrest comes after police had numerous tips from the public about his whereabouts. 59-year-old Albert Gilmore and 35-year-old Cedric Lofton are charged with aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy. Gilmore and Lofton are on video attacking a man who was knocked unconscious inside McDonald's on State Street last Thursday. Police say the public also helped identify these men. Officials say having pictures, videos and help from the public are all huge asset when it comes to locating suspects. They say social media has been playing a big role in finding people who are wanted and is a platform that gives the information to the public with just the click of a button.
