Roar Drives Out of Towners to Erie

Roar has become a melting pot for bikers.
July 17, 2014 - People from all across the country are revving up for the ride.

Roar has become a melting pot for bikers.

In addition to the food, live music and vendors, this event is about meeting new people and making friends.

From near and far, thousands of people are in town for Roar on the Shore.

Motorcycle license plates showing bikers traveling from New York, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida are on display in Perry Square.

Roar officials say some bikers are making the haul from as far away as Los Angeles.

Bikers had to book hotels months in advance.

While some Erie natives are making the five-day-long event into a homecoming of sorts by staying with loved ones.

Putting miles on their prized bikes doesn't seem to make them wince, as this rally is growing into a summer hot spot for avid riders.

And one couple even crossed the border from Canada and traveled to Erie for their first Roar on the Shore.
