Sand Replenishment Funds Secured for Presue Isle Beaches

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers allocated $1.5 million for sand replenishment and $1.52 million dollars for the dredging of sediment.
March 10, 2014- Good news for the beaches of Presque Isle....
Sand replenishment funds have been secured.
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers allocated $1.5 million for sand replenishment and $1.52 million dollars for the dredging of sediment.
Both of those items were initially left out of President Barack Obama's budget proposal.
Last month, Representative Mike Kelly, Senator Pat Toomey, and Bob Casey Jr. wrote letters demanding support.
Park Operations Manager Harry Leslie says getting the funds is a victory.
Leslie says an additional one $1.3 million remains because contingency money was not spent last year.
