Students Excavate Mock Crime Scenes

The mock crime scene is part of a week-long course that teaches participants the basics of forensic archaeology.
June 5, 2014 - A group of students are digging in the dirt this week as part of a mock crime scene excavation.

The mock crime scene is part of a week-long course that teaches participants the basics of forensic archeology.

About 25 people from across the country and internationally came out to take the course.

Participants attended lectures and training that all led up to today. They then get hands-on experience through excavating the outdoor graves.

The program is only one in the country that emphasizes the investigation and recovery of outdoor remains.

This week marks the 22 year the course has been offered at Mercyhurst University.
