June 4, 2014: If you are an avid swimmer and want a challenge, spots are still available to participate the 7th Annual One Mile Bay Swim. The one mile swim is open only to three hundred swimmers. The Bay Swim raises money for the Presque Isle Partnership as well as several other local non-profits. This year $13,000 has already been raised. The swim started once the bay was declared swimmable seven years ago and since then it has grown in popularity. Officials say even though its not a competitive swim, you don't have to be an expert swimmer but you should be prepared to swim that distance...which is equivalent to 72 laps in a pool. The 7th Annual Bay Swim is happening Saturday June 21st beginning at Presque Isle State Park swimming one mile to the Erie Yacht Club. Pre-registration is required.
