Wiley Appointed to PHEAA Board

The appointment of Senator Sean D. Wiley to serve on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Association has been confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate.
Harrisburg, March 17, 2014 – The appointment of Senator Sean D. Wiley (D-Erie) to serve on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Association (PHEAA) has been confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate.

Created in 1963 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency has evolved into one of the nation's leading student aid organizations. Today, PHEAA is a national provider of student financial aid services, serving millions of students and thousands of schools through its loan guaranty, loan servicing, financial aid processing, outreach, and other student aid programs.

“I am very honored by this appointment. Affordable higher education is critical to the future success of the students in this Commonwealth and beyond. The financial support that is offered by PHEAA allows an avenue for students and families to pursue higher education that might otherwise be unattainable,” said Wiley.

Wiley has represented the 49th Senate District (parts of Erie County) since his election in 2012. He serves on the Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development, Labor & Industry, Public Health & Welfare, and Communications & Technology Committees and is the Democratic Chair of the Intergovernmental Operations Committee.
