Community Mourns Passing of Gannon Student

Police are continuing to investigating the death of Abrielle Brynda.

The Gannon University community is remembering 21-year-old Abbrielle Brynda. Brynda, who was originally from outside of Pittsburgh, was a junior at Gannon majoring in nursing. Just before 4 PM on Saturday Erie police were called to the scene between two buildings in the 100 block of 12th street where Brynda was found unresponsive in cardiac arrest. She was taken to UPMC Hamot here she was pronounced dead just after 9 PM. Police believe she was at a party on the second story of the building at the location that she was found Friday night. That is where she was last seen. Police do not believe it was foul play but are continuing to investigate. They are investigating it as a suspicious death because they are not sure details of what happened. Police are interviewing people that were with her at the time. After an autopsy, Coroner, Lyell Cook, reports preliminary findings point towards hypothermia as the cause of death. Exact cause and manner of her death are pending further results from the autopsy. The Gannon community is leaning on each other for support and came together during Sunday morning's mass to remember their classmate.
