This after the Attorney General's Narcotics Unit served a search warrant to Mahoney’s Dental Offices Thursday evening.
Investigators say Doctor William Kevin Mahoney was filling out fake prescriptions for opioid pain killers and using the prescriptions for him.
52-year-old Mahoney is charged with eights counts of obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deceit and subterfuge.
According to the criminal complaint, Mahoney was getting injectable hydromorphone (also known as dilaudid) by using various patients’ names...
The complaint states Mahoney forged prescriptions for nearly one year using his own prescription pad, claiming the prescription would be used for dental procedures.
Mahoney is out on bail.
According to court documents, Mahoney's bail was reduced today.
Mahoney’s attorney has requested that he go to rehab in Chicago.
A judge has not yet ruled on that request.
