State Agencies Come to Erie to Answer Questions on Tavern Gaming

Tavern owners got the answers they were looking for today about the tavern gaming license they can apply for starting January 27th.
January 22, 2014 - The Commonwealth is offering help to local tavern owners interested in applying for a small games of chance license.

Tavern owners got the answers they were looking for today about the tavern gaming license they can apply for starting January 27th.

Tavern games are defined under Act 90 as pull tab games, daily drawings and tavern raffles where games must be in part for a charitable or public purpose.

Applicants must have one of the following to apply: an active and current liquor license, hotel liquor license, a privately owned public golf course liquor license or a brewery pub license.

The application fee is $2,000, with $1,000 that going to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and the other $1,000 going to the Gaming Control Board.

Once a tavern is approved, they must pay another $2,000 before the license is issued.

After that, the tavern must pay an annual fee of $1,000.

The application process includes a background check.
