State Senator Wiley:Unemployment Compensation Law has Local Impact

State Senator Sean Wiley says the law is high on his priority list, saying the Act 60 Law is having an impact on the seasonal workforce.
January 10, 2014 - As state legislatures prepare to head back to Harrisburg for the first session of the New Year, the unemployment compensation law will be a hot topic.

State Senator Sean Wiley says the law is high on his priority list, saying the Act 60 Law is having an impact on the seasonal workforce.

Seasonal employees like construction workers and tourism employees were able to apply for unemployment before the law passed in 2012.

It took effect January 1, 2013, and the percentage change is causing an unintended impact.

According to State Senator Wiley, he says northwest Pennsylvania is impacted significantly because we have a high number of seasonal employees due to the weather.
