A botched robbery attempt could be to blame for the murder of a mother and her son in Ashtabula.

Forty-three-year-old Lydia Aviles Mook Colon and 20-year-old Xavier Mook Colon were gunned down in a home, after authorities say robbers broke into the wrong house.
That's according to the Ashtabula Star Beacon.

The newspaper is reporting that one of the suspects in the case, Lewis Arnold, apparently solicited people to commit a robbery that ultimately resulted in two men going to the wrong house.
A preliminary hearing for Arnold is set to take place next week.

Ashtabula County's solicitor says the duplex where the victims lived was not the intended target of the robbery.
