Area PennDOT Crews Respond to Storm Region

February 13, 2014 - Mobile emergency team members from PennDOT’s District 1 in northwestern Pennsylvania were mobilized and delivered much needed assistance in eastern Pennsylvania counties impacted by the current winter storm.

Early this morning, equipment operators, foremen and trucks from Crawford, Venango and Mercer counties were dispatched to help clear roads in Carbon and Monroe counties, which are part of PennDOT’s Allentown-based District 5.

“It is essential for PennDOT to be able to quickly and effectively respond when large-scale weather emergencies and natural disasters strike,” said PennDOT District 1 Executive Bill Petit, P.E. “District 1 is prepared to assist.”

Four equipment operators, two trucks and two foremen from Crawford County traveled to assist in Carbon County. Four operators, two trucks and two foremen from Mercer County, along with two operators and one truck from Venango County traveled to assist in Monroe County.

Mobile emergency teams are organized throughout the state. Team members can be mobilized and dispatched quickly to help other PennDOT offices deal with emergencies.
