Getting appointed to that position would mean that Badams would serve a six year term and be part of the group that reviews and adopts regulations for education on the state level.
Badams says he is honored to receive the nomination and thinks that how he handled recent hardships within the district caught the attention of the governor.
The state senate has to confirm all of the governor's nominations.
Badams says he expects to hear news about whether or not he will be appointed to the board in the coming weeks.
