April 4, 2014 - Docksider and Sluggers are doing their part to cut down on problems inside their bars.

They're taking a proactive approach to preventing problems.

A shooting at the Cell Block at the beginning of March is leading to some changes in the downtown bar scene.

The shooting prompted the owner to shut down the bar and then put the business up for sale.

Now there's a strict dress code in place at Sluggers and Docksider.

Posted outside of Docksider is a list of the dress code -- including no flat brim hats, no baggy pants or sweatpants, no plain white t-shirts, no revealing clothes and no gang colors or signs.

Those who aren't following the policy won't be let in.

But, the owner of Docksider says they are enforcing the dress code now to create a safer environment for those who frequent their bar.

They also have about ten bouncers throughout the bar on Friday and Saturday nights.

Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers says the owners are able to enforce their own policies, but says it may be a step in the right direction to preventing issues in downtown.
