The Great Lakes Sports Festival is a series of physique, power, lifting and performance sports competitions. The first event will be Gannon University’s 5K pump and run at 8 a.m., with doors to the all-day expo beginning at the same time. A CrossFit challenge, the National Physique Committee (NPC) Bodybuilding Figure, Bikini and Physique Pre-Judging and a USA Power Lifting meet will follow. The afternoon events begin with the North American Strongman (NAS) Competition and the Pennsylvania State Arm Wrestling Championships put on by the cast of the hit AMC show “Game of Arms”.
Evening events will begin with NPC Bodybuilding Finales and conclude with an action-filled NSA Wrestling Show featuring Erie’s own John “Fabulous” McChesney. Local and national vendors will be available during an all-day expo held at the event. A detailed list of the order and time of events can be viewed at http://garyudit.com/event/2014-npc-great-lakes-championships-2/.
Admission is $40 for an all-day pass, $15 for the expo, $30 for reserved seating for the NPC finals and $20 for pro wrestling.
“We are so excited for this event,” said Jack Sullivan, who along with Gary Udit, is co-promoting the event. “Hundreds of athletes from the Tri-State area are competing. Our hope is that the Erie community will come out and support some first-class physical competition.”
“This is an excellent example of a unique event that shows, without a doubt, that Erie has what it takes to host all types of events,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “I know Jack and his team are working extremely hard to introduce a collection of events in one day that will create tremendous interest from participants and fans throughout the region.”
