Bishop Brock along with other community activists are trying to create a summer jobs program for the youth in Erie County. They're reaching out to local non-profits and organizations in Erie asking for money to fund the summer jobs initiative. They want council to contribute money from community policing to create a proactive approach to violence in the city.
Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. suggested at the meeting for the group to consider a match program where they front a sum of money and then ask for a match. Bishop Brock says that's not feasible.
