Breaking Down the Primary Election

The biggest showdown in the May primary is the race for Pennsylvania governor. Republican Tom Corbett is running unopposed on the Republican ticket in this election. Corbett has served as governor for the past three years, previous to that, Governor Corbett served as attorney general for the state of Pennsylvania.

Among the Democratic candidates, Tom Wolf is the frontrunner. Wolf has previously served as the secretary of revenue for former Governor Ed Rendell. Along with Tom Wolf, other Democrats running for Pennsylvania governor include Rob Mccord, Katie McGinty and Allyson Schwartz.

Moving on to the lieutenant governor position for Pennsylvania; Mike Stack, Mark Critz, and Mark Smith are hoping for the Democratic nomination. Rounding out the five candidates are Brandon Neuman and Brad Koplinski.

Moving to the Fifth Congressional District, Democrats Thomas Tarantella and Kerith Strano Taylor are squaring off. Also running is Glenn Thompson, he's running unopposed for the position in the Republican Party.

Over to the 50th Senatorial District, Michael Muha is running as the only Democratic candidate. And Republicans Jane MacPherson, Greg Lucas and Michele Brooks are all vying for their parties nomination.

The final race is the for the newly redrawn 17th house district which will include part of western Erie County next year.
