Two separate advertising campaigns, two separate cities, divided by just 123 miles. The latest advertising campaign by Visit Erie hopes to bring Pittsburgh families to the shores of Lake Erie.
Comparing similar activities in both cities proves it maybe cheaper to be a tourist in your own backyard. A Kennywood Fun Day Ticket comes in at right under $41 for someone 46 inches and taller. But a Waldameer day pass is $26 for the rides or just $3.75 more for rides and slides.
A night at the Sheraton Station Square on the same night the Pittsburgh Pirates are in town on July 5 is $302 and you can buy a Pirates ticket starting at $18 or sit behind home plate for $50. On the same night the Seawolves team is in town you can get a room at the Bayfront Sheraton for $259 and a ticket behind home plate for $12.
Visit Pittsburgh is bringing it's Kidsburgh campaign to Erie this Friday. Kids ages 4-years-old to 14-years-old will get a free youth jersey at the Friday Seawolves game. Visit Erie will be at Market Square with wine and chocolate from the shores of Lake Erie.
