July 30, 2013 - Erie police are investigating after a car crashed into a pizza shop and then took off.

The incident happened around 9:15pm at the Papa John's in the 1700 block of East 38th Street.

According to the store’s general manager, the vehicle slammed into the side of the business causing significant damage to an area known as the "driver's station."

That area is where pizza delivery people are usually picking up orders, but we're told fortunately no one was there at the time and that no one was hurt.

After the crash, the driver fled the scene.

Erie police said they have a license plate number and are now looking for that vehicle.
