The College Board is changing the SAT test.
The changes will be unveiled in April of 2014 and the new test will begin in 2016.
The now mandatory essay portion of the SAT will become optional.
Students will no longer be penalized for wrong answers.
Some testing sites will even offer the option of testing on a computer.
Those involved in the changes say the idea is to get a better feel for what students have learned in high school.
A perfect score will now be 1600 points instead of the current 2400 points.
