Changing the Color of Food in a Healthy Way

- March 17, 2014- Its fun to turn some of your favorite foods green for a day, but you dont necessarily need food coloring or dyes to do it.

You can naturally turn foods green by using other foods by juicing things like kale, spinach, parsley, or bell peppers.

You can mix the juice into light-colored dressings- even cake batters, to add a hint of green color.
You can also boil vegetables and use the green water that is left behind to color foods and recipes.

You can also try Matcha Green Tea Powder from Japan.
It is used for drinking as tea or as an ingredient in recipes; it not only turns foods green, but is rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber.
Laura Jeffers from the Cleveland Clinic says an idea the kids may love, is green macaroni and cheese.

For dessert you can even try making a leprechaun cake by using avocado, kiwi, and lime to create a slightly green tint.
