The 69th Annual North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival is right around the corner, but the brutal winter means it was a rough year for the cherry crop in our area.
Organizers and farmers say the festival will go on, but there will be some changes because of the lack of cherries. Each year, thousands come out to the fire departments fundraiser that sustains their budget for an entire year. This year, the cherries for cherry fest will still be bought from local farmers, but those farmers had to go out of town to get them.
The festival starts the 15th and goes until the 19th. The big firemen's parade is on the 19th. Once again, JET 24 will be part of the parade.
