June 3, 2014 - 60 pre-school children were getting hands-on at Perry Square, learning how to garden.

The gardening activity is part of PNC Bank's Grow Up Great project where children learned the basics of gardening.

The theme of this year's event was "bugs.”

Children participated in interactive stations where they learned about the importance of bugs in the garden.

The stations taught the children new vocabulary to prepare them for kindergarten.

Each child also planted something in the garden as part of the day's event.

The activity was in partnership with the Master Gardeners Group of Erie and the Perry Square Alliance.
