Classes Begin at Expanded Porreco College

- August 25, 2014: It is the first day of school for many districts in the area, and for college students as well. For Edinboro University, it's the first day of class at the Porreco College. This fall, Porreco College is offering to it's students Associate Degrees in applied technology, human services, liberal studies and business administration along with a certificate program in customer relations management. Janet Bowker, the Director of Porreco College, says after their expansion announcement was made in March, the applications came pouring in.

The college held an open house every Wednesday throughout the summer and received more than 250 applications. Of those applications, well over 150 students have been enrolled. Administrators believe a college like this is in high demand because of the lack of affordable post-secondary educational options for many residents in our area. The college has big plans for the future as well. The Porreco College's three-year plan includes more than $11 million in campus improvements; including extending programs, adding science labs, classroom space and a food service program.
