In baseball a pitcher is usually taken out of the game after he throws around 100 pitches.

Now a collaborative study is underway at Mercyhurst University to determine if that's the right number.

Mercyhurst University department of sports medicine, UPMC Hamot and Shriners Hospital for Children are involved in the study to determine the correlation between pitch count and throwing arm injuries.

Cameras from the Shriners Hospital are set up to monitor pitchers throw and to determine fatigue.

The study starts with 80 pitches and that data will be analyzed.

The information from this study will be used from the major league level to little league.
