APRIL 8, 2014-- Five people spoke at tonight's Erie County Council meeting to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and push for the need in the community to provide more options for our Veterans and for their families. The families of our military men and women also attended tonight's meeting to show their support for creating a Veteran’s Treatment Court in Erie County. The Erie County Council voted unanimously on a resolution to support the treatment court in our area. If created, Erie would become the 18th County in the Commonwealth and only the 100th in the nation to have this research based practice. The treatment court would help veterans in need find treatment and ensure them they are not alone. The court would connect Veterans with mentors. They also would connect them with care providers and help them find treatment. Officials say it would save the County money because there would be fewer people in County Prisons.
