Crews Demolish Meadville Apartment House

JANUARY 30, 2014- A Meadville apartment house ravaged by fire is now a pile of rubble, and crews are still investigating what caused the blaze.
Thursday morning 390 Chestnut Street was leveled by demolition crews.
It was Tuesday evening when fire destroyed the three story apartment house...
Fire officials deeming the building a complete loss and finding it structurally deficient.
Nine families were left homeless.
The sub zero temperatures and decades old construction challenged crews Tuesday.
Today, those same conditions became an obstacle for those tearing the building down.
The proximity to other buildings on the street, the wall construction and the age of the building forced crews to work carefully.
Surprisingly, fire struck this building once before in February of 1942...
The building caught fire and was heavily damaged.
Back then, it was the Ratford Building...
