This bird travels from Brazil to Pennsylvania and further north in the spring and in the fall they congregate on Presque Isle at the head of the bay. Thousands of Purple Martins make for a awesome sight.
Next week, you’ll have a chance to see inside the Purple Martin’s houses.
You can join an Environmental Educator and a Purple Martin Conservation Field Biologist at the Rotary Pavilion for a “nest check.”
The Purple Martin bird houses will be lowered and you’ll be able to see inside to see first hand how the bird makes its nests, and hatches its eggs.
That’s Friday, July 18th from 1:00 to 2:00pm.
It’s free and open to the public and no registration is required.
