Aquatic Biologist Nate Irwin spends several hours a day looking through a microscope looking for any of the blue green algae that was a big problem a few months back in the western end of Lake Erie.
Irwin says we don't have too much to worry about here, because our area is different than the areas around Cleveland and Toledo Ohio.
We don't have any major rivers that dump large amounts of nutrients and fertilizers into this area of the lake.
Visitors to Presque Isle will see signs posted showing what blue green algae looks like and to report any sightings to the park office.
