The event will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Jeremy D. Brown Human Services Building, 215 Scotland Road. The open house is free, and no reservations are required.
Guests will have an opportunity to learn more about the DPN program and meet the EU nursing faculty and Admissions staff. Tours of the nursing simulation labs and the Nursing Department’s other modern facilities will be available, and refreshments will be served.
The DNP, offered in consortium with Clarion University, is designed to be a completion program to Clarion and Edinboro Universities’ jointly offered Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). That program has been acclaimed by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best online nursing programs in the country in each of the last two years. U.S. News also lists nurse practitioner as one of the very best of its “Best Jobs,” ranking it fourth among the top 100, with a 24.5 percent employment growth expected by 2022.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice offers excellence and affordability in a 34-credit program that can be taken part-time over six semesters in an entirely online format. Like all of Edinboro University’s online offerings, the DNP program is designed to provide a flexible educational experience, allowing students to continue employment as advanced practice nurses while pursuing the doctoral degree.
Students will be admitted to the program in cohorts of 27. The first offerings will begin in summer 2014.
With the addition of the DNP, EU offers a comprehensive program of nursing credentials. A student can pursue a degree in one of Edinboro’s four undergraduate nursing programs, continue through the online MSN program and complete her or his studies with the DNP.
