August 6, 2014 - Erie City Council heard final plans today for the Erie County Convention Center's proposed hotel.

Kidder Wachter Architecture and Design presented the plans for the $50 million Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and parking garage. The hotel will be built in an "l" shape where the current employee parking and loading dock is located.

Architects say the hotel will have 191 rooms and will be five stories high standing at 61 feet tall. The parking ramp will have 287 spaces with 8200 square feet of retail space.

The Executive Director of the Erie County Convention Center Authority says the parking garage is in a central location and an important piece to the future development of the former GAF property.

The construction on the hotel is expected to begin in October with the parking deck construction expected to begin in the spring of 2015.

All of this hinges on City Council's vote of approval for the project that is expected to take place at an upcoming meeting.
