Wednesday's storm put Erie in defense mode, now the region is in clean up mode as the meltdown begins. Officials say when temperatures drop that quickly and rain and snow mix it becomes hard to salt the roads. If temperatures are below 10 degrees the salt won’t be affective. The icy and slushy roads remained a problem throughout the day for many people driving through the area. Everyone was digging out after the winter storm pelted the area with more snow.  It dumped about 5 1/2 inches of snow in some areas.
